nothing fake about the passionate being this director is. thanks goodness she cares about the quality of her work IN DETAIL!!

Wonderful film...want to see it again.

I really enjoyed the film. Also "How fake this woman can sound!" - how about proofreading before posting? Jeez.

Each one of us has a unique story that depends on our own stories of how we came to the US as immigrants. Each story is therefore plausible, if one is honest and is able to articulate that experience. Those are the gifts first from Jhumpa and then from Mira with the Namesake.

My only issues are with the accuracy of some of the material references Jhumpa makes in her book. Things that were not available in the 1970's or 80's but were in later decades seem to creep into the story (yet understandable since each of us can relate more to our own contemporary material metaphors much more easily). Baring those flaws, it's a great story!

Ahh It's not an easy job for a director like Mira to direct a book whose been written by a writer who writes from heart not from mind. I think Mira has done an excellent job directing the movie. I don't think you have any rights to call anyone FAKE!! For a change why don't you take Mira's or Jhumpa's place and tell us what is FAKE and what is not!!

Fake!? I don't think she is fake at all. She is very intelligent and perceptive. I liked her earlier films very much.
