Find out what ADAM producer Miranda de Pencier considers her favorite scene from the new film.
I almost jumped out of my seat when Adam took Beth for a date to see Raccoons in the park.... since that is one of the favorite activities of my Aspie boyfriend!, We live close to Central Park and the first time he took me for raccoon watching I was kind of scared and surprised that he felt so at ease in the park at night, and then we saw them and he was so careful to point them out to me and to explain that they look for food in the cans because they forage...JUST LIKE IN THE FILM. I had never seen something so specific about a person with Asperguer's and their quirks depicted so accurately. He was sitting next to me and we both looked at the screen in disbelief because it was literally like watching ourselves watching raccoons so moving and funny.
Great to see a romance involving an aspie. I dated one for awhile until he moved for work. He really can only make a good living in his very narrow field. Brilliant, handsome. Awkward. Lots of quirks. He manages to make friends anyway. He doesn't seem able to lie-- so if I didn't want to hear the truth, I wouldn't ask. Best sort of lover - because he made a thorough study of how to be one. He's the only ex I can say I'm still good friends with. He hasn't had a girlfriend since he moved to Woods Hole, MA. Maybe this movie will open up some eyes and hearts.
I cannot wait to see this movie. My son is an aspie, and it's been a ainful, funny, frustrating, and, ultimately, amazing journey, watching him grow up into a beautiful young man. I hope "Adam" can shed some light and bring some degree of understanding about this all-too-often misunderstood condition.
