This book was the best I have ever read! I feel it should be required reading to our children at a young age to help better understand that everyone's hearts are the same regardless of color, religion, occupation, or upbringing. The other important factor is having a faith in something bigger and better. I loved how August (Queen Latifah) portrayed the true human spirit. The wailing wall provided an important outlet for suffering and letting go. I am passing this book along to my daughter and sister. I was sad when it ended and will be reading the author's other books. I'm taking an entire box of kleenex to the movie.

Honey, I feel the exact same

Honey, I feel the exact same way. I read this book for the first time four years ago when I was in Africa. After staying up all night reading it by oil lamp, I knew that I had found my Bible, the perfect book. Since then, I've wanted to own the book. However, everytime I buy ti I end up giving it away because poeple need to read it. Well, I finalyl purchased my copy some weeks ago, and I finished reading it last night. My eyes were so puffy from crying that I could not close them. This is a timeless novel, an I will have a new tissue box as well.

Attended the movie last

Attended the movie last evening and it is a winner! Queen Latifah and Dakata Fanning should get lead Oscar nods! "May" character Sophie Otenabo a shoe-in for supporting actress! Outstanding performances! Very moving and realistically shows the heartbreak of humnanity treating each other poorly. This movie locale could have been rural or inner city PA and had the same impact! A bit cliched to show the South as the only place with 1960's racism! I hope it this outstandingly well-acted film will bring awareness to how life can damage people, but also how we have a choice and can react lovingly to heal our lives and the people who grace it!
