Dr. Brian Cox, the science advisor for SUNSHINE, discusses among other topics: red giants, supernovae, white dwarves, dark matter, and the death of the sun.

It is not until I visited this web-site and read all the different articles that I have respect for our sun, and have a little more understanding of it's awesome power and might. One day the sun will not rise , then what are we to do, or what will happen to the human race ?

Since the 13th General Conference on Weights and Measures in 1967-1968, the unit kelvin (K) should not be preceded with "degree" or "degrees". When referring to a temperature, it should be written as "5700 K" or "5700 kelvins". Reference Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin

Shock and Awe!

It is about time that someone presented a documentary on the sun. It is too bad that the average person is not shocked or in awe of the sun except during a total solar eclipse. At 15,000,000 degrees K, at the core, this object is no joke! It is a mystery, as hot as the surface of the sun is, why the temperature jumps from 5700 degrees K to over 2,000,000 degrees. It defies a basic law of thermodynamics, entropy.

It is fitting that the trailer includes a clip of the Fourier analysis of what the sun would sound like, if we could hear it at such a low frequency and coupled to an elastic medium for the transfer of well over over 200 megaton explosions per minute!

Fascinating!
