For any children with aging parents, a MUST SEE movie...comedy, drama, the pathos, the anguish of "trying to do the right thing" for an aging parent who may not be able to care for him/ herself.
A movie made for and may be enjoyed by adults of any age. It gives us all some issues to consider and highlights the few options now available for elderly and frail citizens.
The screenwriting is thoughtful and realistic. A great story told very well. The direction is superb...subtle, The writing and the subject itself requires little embellishment. Laura Linney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Philip Bosco's ensemble work is a "work of art." Their understated and insightful characterizations bring the characters to life with balanced, engrossing performances.
In more than 45 years of movie attendance, this is among the finest movies I've enjoyed.
