I am six years old and your song "falling down" is really cool. I like the tune alot. I'm gonna learn it on the piano.....Keep playing! Francesca, from Miami Fla.

the movie is the best one of i sew .is very good for feeling.this is film.

I have a beautiful Maton that was in pristine condition when I was given her.. she is 26 years old..
I have taken her everywhere with me and she has become a fine friend..
Friends who are collectors bemoan the fact she has a few bumps and scratches now...
I remember each one.. and its a story..and that makes her priceless..
I fell in love with glens guitar.. she'd a a few good tales...
I wonder what her name is?
Is it a she?
Mmmmmm?

I have never posted on a site before but I watched this movie for the first time with my daughter about six weeks ago. We loved it so much that we watched it again the same day, then with my husband the day after that. Both my daughters have purchased the soundtrack and DVD.

I have told many people about this moving, emotional movie. Last night I went to a party, told some friends about it and came home and had to rent it again. I just watched it again this morning! After renting it three times I think I need to go out and buy it!

It is by far the best film made in many years. The music intertwines to tell the story so well that listening to the music makes you want to watch the movie again! I am so happy that you won the Oscar! And that Marketa was allowed to come back out and speak. Finally, my faith in humanity has been renewed!

I wish you two gifted musicians and real people only the best of success. Keep sharing your beautiful, poignant music with the world! Glen, I am so thankful to hear the story behind your sweet sounding guitar. I was wondering about it throughout the film. You are both brilliant! Slainte! Sally from Elmhurst, IL

This movie and soundtrack is wonderful. A great story told with great music is a dream come true. What a refreshing idea!! Lonni- Texas

Glen & Marketa CONGRATS!

CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR OSCAR WIN!
We were all rooting for you at the Oscar Party we went to - watching LIVE.

You were fabulous onstage ay the Oscars too! "Once" is such a great movie - too bad it wasn't nominated too.

Anyway - loved you (and your old holey guitar too!)

Haven't seen the film yet... but just after watchin the trailer and listening to The Song I am falling slowly... in love with you, actors and all of the people who created "Once".

Life's worth living when we can experience such beauty of the music, of the film, of the art... straight from the beautiful hearts of people.

My love to you.

My congratulations on your Oscar :-)

Cedar is a very soft wood and on guitar with no pickguard they get scratched very easily if played enough you will develop a hole just from the pick hitting the same spot over and over. Cedar tends to have a warmer darker tone then spruce which is why some players prefer it to spruce. BTW not actually sure if his guitar is a NP15 because the rosette on a NP15 is different from what is on his guitar it may be an EN10. That is what the Takamine product manger told me when I showed him a picture of Glen's guitar. Of course Glen could solve the mystery himself by just telling us! Maith thĂș to all who worked on this fantastic film!

My wife and I found the movie and rented it based on the cover. The next day we went and bought a copy and watched it again. Then our daughter was home for a weekend and we watched it; then my son came over the day of the Oscars and the 3 of us watched it again. Understand, I NEVER watch a movie more than once. The family now has 2 copies plus 2 CD's (no, we did not buy one and dupe it) and there are more to follow as we share this wonderful movie/music.
Thanks for focusing on simplicity amd heart; Larry & JoAnne, Medinah,IL

Happy to say we found this gem early on and have been sharing it with friends
We hope you won't mind if we use a few letters to pass along our efforts with Tibetans http://www.tibetanphotoproject.com

My sound engineer friend told me about the movie Friday night and my wife rented it for us Saturday. Here it is Monday and those songs are still cycling in my head. I have been a guitar player for 42 years and so of course a movie about a musician would interest me BUT this movie moved me in a deeper way. The passion in Glen's voice and the chilling harmonies that Marketa sang, brilliant, beautiful. They are blessed and gifted people that deserve this recognition. I pray they have more music to offer. I am buying the CD for my car.....Ron Thompson..San Antonio,Texas

When I saw the movie I thought this guitar was a prop, the three holes at the bottom are visually captivating and I thought it must be a guitar some prop guy distressed to look interesting. Learning the story behind it made me love this movie, and these musicians!, that much more.

I am so, SO glad "Falling Slowly" won the Oscar. It was by far the best song nominated and had so much soul and reality that truly there was no way it couldn't win. (If one of the saccharine-laced pop tunes from "Enchanted" had won I would have been thoroughly disgusted!)

Thanks for making such a good movie and proving that good cinema is still out there and doesn't require a 3 trillion dollar budget. Best wishes on all you guys do!

So happy to learn "Fallng Slowly" is nominated for best song at the Academy Awards. Will be rooting for it, at the very least it will be played before a National TV audience.
Outstanding movie, acting, writing, production all top notch. Nothing get's blown up, nobody shoots a gun, no stupid CGI special effects and it just reaches out and grabs you. What a complete, pleasant surprise. Maybe the film will be re-released if the notoriety of the song stirs more interest. Word of mouth just isn't sufficient to spread the news. Five stars !!!

Absolutely loved the movie. I have seen it twice now and most likely will see it again. Music is infectious to listen to. Hope we see more of Glen in future movies.

i thought only aspiring musicians will love this movie...well i'm wrong. The songs really moved me...on how it was sang, played and how a life of most song writers really lived...so true to me. I am now a fan of glen for his simple but honest songs made. You guys were right the songs and the movie are infectious...

INSPIRATIONAL! SIMPLY WONDERFUL!

Every instrument has a story... I love it. And what a great film! The "falling slowly" scene perfectly captures those rare transcendental moments when you collaborate with someone for the first time, and you know it's magic. Glen's face is priceless in that scene.

glen, we locked eyes on a Czech airline plane on route between Praha and Dublin about 3 years ago. you were a total stranger to me. .. i've always remembered those piercing blue eyes and shock of red hair. I said to myself back then ..those eyes have such depth. I saw Once on Dvd last week and recognised you immediately. your music affects the listener profoundly..Falling slowly ..is a heart wrenchingly beautiful song, both melody and lyrics..I was moved to tears when I heard it. In this crazy world that we live in it gives me hope that genuine artists like yourself get recognition. I hope you will remain true to your heart and your talent and that success will not sully the purity of your music.

Rightfully Magical.............

Hi, i have not seen the movie (yet), but one of my Asian friends said that she did not get the end of the movie. Is there really some difficulties in interpreting the end of the movie? How does it end, then? Comments appreciated.

What a wonderful movie. Great singing, guitar and great acting. One of the best movies we have seen. And the songs are really really great. Wonderful stuff.

And the guitar has character. It looks loved.

I rented this film last night and it TOTALLY blew me away. I'm an Irish DJ and sound engineer in training in Dublin and ppff... WOW..The songs are all soo infectious. Amazing stuff

Hi Glen! I love your songs! They're so like I mean like awwwsooome!!! lov ya!
bye!

The Glen's guitar is great, the sound is perfect and it looks cool :-)

Unfortunately, it is no longer produced, but there is a similar model though. Glen plays Takamine NP15. You won't even find it on the takamine website. If you can bear minor differences (mahogany back+sides instead of rosewood), go for Takamine EAN10

What I'm jazzed about (besides the entire movie and the music) is finding out how the HOLES came to be in the guitar.

Anyone else?

His uncle had a Gibson Hummingbird--which would cost a fortune--, and he gives Glen a Takamine--also a great guitar, but not as expensive. Maybe all those holes in the top make it sound even better. It just goes to show that its the musician not the instrument. This is a great story. I can't wait to see the movie.

I'm not into material attachment, but I think a attachment to a musical instrument is entirely appropriate. Instrument create music, and auditory expression of emotion. Rock on Glen!

Agree, the video is poor quality, but maybe that will get fixed. I saw the film yesterday and I am telling all my friends to go. Hard to believe that was the guitar being played on the soundtrack. I couldn't resist buying it, though I haven't worked all year, but it was so infectious! I may have to buy the DVD too...

(Aside:
These vids are really choppy though. Any chance you could use something like RealPlayer or Quicktime for your vids in the future?)
