This is such a beautiful song. Good dynamics and harmony, they make a beautiful couple.
I heard a couple of words on an aol advertisement, and I knew I had to find this song.
I saw the video to the song and its something that I can relay to.
As a matter of fact, I'm from Trinidad and married to a musician from New York (Deynes) and his music is beautiful as well. But this song brings out emotions that's been hidden. I can't wait to see the film 'Once'.
Great Song!

This was my favorite movie of the year. It made laugh out loud and touched my very soul. It was both heart wrenching and exhilarating....the perfect movie for not only a musician such as myself, but everyone who has loved music and has either witnessed or experienced real love.
More love was expressed between these two characters in the scene at the piano during "Falling Slowly" than I have ever felt between two characters in in any other movie. So often movies do not give us a choice but rather force us, through blatant unemotional sex scenes, to believe that the characters are in love. Glen and Marketa proved that the truest and purest of love can be brought to fruition through music and honesty...being vulnerable....opening yourself up to another. Simply beautiful. Wonderful job...and I cannot stop listening to this CD in my car. I never want the music to end.

As an artist and a five-year survivor of lung cancer (yippee!) I can honestly say that, as clichéd as it is, I actually DO feel happy for every day. And I do know how saccharine that sounds, but discovering a little gem of a movie like Once makes my heart swell with love for us all. Somehow, gorgeous music magically taps into our collective consciences and makes me feel very connected to something much, much bigger and quite mysterious. Thanks guys, for adding to my happy heart so beautifully.

I saw this movie at UCSB. I can't just believe it. Its amazing. Its great and at the same time the movie uses very simple elements to tell a very simple true love story. I also agree with the previous guy. The music is FANTASTIC and it goes deeply into your mind. to sum it up I should say this is film is a MUST to see.
Congrats on the film :)

I haven't seen the movie yet, but i heard the soundtrack on itunes and was hooked. The soundtrack is mindblowing, and I'm positive from all the reviews I'v read that the movie is phenomenal. Also if anyone knows when the movie is going to play worldwide in theaters please list it when you post your comments I live in Alaska.

June 6 - Saw this movie last night in Los Angeles as an excuse to see our brand new showcase Landmark Theatre multiplex. It was stunning to fall into this sort of experience. Intimate, intense, emotional, real. The music with its own voice but the emotion of U2 unplugged. I was touched throughout and sobbing at the end. Thank you all for this film.

I'm not a big movie person, but this film and its music is haunting and I can't stop thinking about it and playing it and telling everyone I know about it. WHOA...I just saw the word "haunting" in the comment above this one...it's TRUE! I think he's Cat Stevens-ish sounding in parts, and the chemistry that they have as vocalists and actors is amazing. Seriously the only movie I've EVER seen that I've been this high on. PLUS I admire the entrepreneurial spirit that it took to get it done. It is truly a phenomenal piece of work and I hope it gets the artistic recognition it deserves. Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving us something beautiful to see, listen to and think about!

I saw this movie at the arclight last night. I wanted to stay and see it again. Haven't had that feeling about a movie in years. I agree with the other posts. This movie, the soundtrack, the performances are all very haunting. I immediately bought the soundtrack and have been listening to it all day and telling all my friends about it. I can't wait to buy the DVD when it becomes available. I am very inspired and truly grateful this movie got made. Hooray!

I agree with the person above who said it resembles Damien Rice. My boyfriend and I went to see it not knowing much about it and actually thought for a moment that it WAS about Damien Rice, but now I know that it is, in fact, Glen Hansard. I absolutely adored this movie. It was recommended to me very highly by a friend; so highly in fact that he actually handed me $20 and said, "You and your boyfriend HAVE TO go see this movie." So we went, saw it, loved it, and bought the soundtrack as a thank-you gift for my friend. Of course, we also had to get it for ourselves. The music is amazing. LOVE IT. And I've been highly recommending it to others as well. :)

Magical! Brilliant! How do you describe something so very magical as Once? Every post here is so right on - why can't we get films like this out of Hollywood?? This is a film that teenagers need to see - unlike the mindless garbage out there! I immediately took my 15-yo son with me to see it (again, after seeing it myself once) and he loved it as well. Too bad for the "R" rating. Tonight I bought the soundtrack and the tears are flowing again - this film and music move you to the very, very core. We need to all spread the word or this film will not get the exposure and recognition it so dearly deserves!
Anonymous | July 12th, 2007 06:42
what can i add - poetry in motion. if the music doesn't move you, you have no soul.

I was never more suprised about a movie I haven't heard of before actually watching it. I saw it in Dublin and felt so close to the film's story and the heart-melting music.
Unfortunately it so hard to get the soundtrack or DVD outside the UK and the US.
On Glen Hansard's "Swell Season" there are some of the songs from the movie, too.

My mother keeps making me turn this off. I've listened to it about seventeen times in a day.
Beautiful film, beautiful song.

The songs have life. This movie touched me. Patricia Lozano (Mty.Mexico) 06 july 2007. the best movie that I've ever seen.

I hope every one of you gets stinking rich for taking such a chance and blowing the doors off anything Hollywood has churned out for years. I'm 50, been playing guitar my whole life, and haven't been moved to learn much new until I heard this. Thanks.

Absolutely Incredible!
Those are the only words that I can think of to describe such an amazing film. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. The actors were so genuine. The music was so perfect that it moved the soul. And the love story was beautifully complex and yet sublime.
They don't make enough movies like this one.
I highly recommend it! It is the best film of the year!

Stunning music, can't wait to see the film. Hope it gets to Louisville soon.
Anonymous | July 7th, 2007 17:24
Movie breaks my heart and makes me smile at the same time. In 90 minutes it sums up the complexities of love brilliantly. I saw 40 mins of a blockbuster 2 days ago and walked out. I never wanted "Once" to end. My favorite film this year. Maybe my favorite film ever. THANK YOU!!!

If any movie can possibly come close to reminding us
what it means to be human with all of its strength and
frailty, despair and hope..... this movie does all of that
and more on so many different levels. I WANT TO SEE THIS
AGAIN!!!!!

I saw the film "Once" several weeks ago. Subsequently, I listen to the music continuously. When I'm not listening to it I am singing or humming it. This fim captures a slice of life that is unique , authentic and soulful. The music is haunting and edgy. It's simplicity emphasizes it's complexity. Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!

Just saw the movie in LA. Best film i've seen in years, best music I've heard in years.
Anonymous | June 2nd, 2007 17:53
I saw this movie yesterday and instantly fell in love with the characters, the music, and the amazingly well written story line. Nice to see a movie flick that isn't inundated with Hollywood glam, pretentious actors, and special effects. A ++++++ !! SUPPORT THIS MOVIE AND GO SEE IT!!
Anonymous | May 23rd, 2007 14:02
Wow. This is a very beautiful song. Resembles a little bit of Damien Rice, I think. It's very haunting, like one of those songs that gives you shivers when you hear it! Beautifully sung.
Anonymous | May 23rd, 2007 20:19
I saw the review on Ebert & Roeper. Can't wait to see it! The music is awesome When is this film opening in Detroit?
Anonymous | May 25th, 2007 19:43
I agree that this is like Damien Rice, but it's different and beautiful in a new way. I can't wait for this movie to come to Buffalo. I need to see it.

I saw this movie in Palo Alto on Friday, then had to see it again on Sunday. The second time I saw it, the ending was clearer. I guess everything worked out in the end. I'm in love with Marketa too.
