Each one of us has a unique story that depends on our own stories of how we came to the US as immigrants. Each story is therefore plausible, if one is honest and is able to articulate that experience. Those are the gifts first from Jhumpa and then from Mira with the Namesake.

My only issues are with the accuracy of some of the material references Jhumpa makes in her book. Things that were not available in the 1970's or 80's but were in later decades seem to creep into the story (yet understandable since each of us can relate more to our own contemporary material metaphors much more easily). Baring those flaws, it's a great story!
