Rourke has set the bar and the Wrestler is a perfect film- no surprise if you have seen Darren Aronofsky's previous work. I'm pretty sure I didn't get married in the 90's because I thought one day I'd meet a Mickey Rourke. As Randy, he is completely naked in this film, so quiet, and gives more of himself to this character than an actor would think humanly possible. Randy's each attempt to connect, repair, or change direction is so clearly the last shot he has to take. Crazy what you go through in life, what you choose and how you end up. Mickey Rourke has proven that there are no wrong turns- if you are brave enough to create something so remarkable, so honest, and so beautiful with your scars.
