It is wrong to think that there was any political agenda during this movie. Any wrestling fan will remember the 80s and to go so far as to remember the match ups and long standing rivalry between The Iron Sheik and Hulk Hogan. They may have used the political events of the time as a way to increase the theatrics of the matches, but in the end it comes down to the same sort of story arch; good guy beats bad guy. Just like old westerns; the guy in the white hat beats the guy in the black hat. It's just a way to discern the good from the bad.

The film is not about world politics or history, therefore why bother to bring it up, and try and ruin was is a great character driven film.

Cyrus the Great was still a conqueror. And it's true that he saved his people, and even liberated others. He was a well respected King. But history is written by the winners, not the losers. You could even say that in this case, for at the time Cyrus would have been the good guy. But that's just the way history was written.
