I think Fox is simply trying to show us why it believes this thing will have zilch staying power at the box office. Is "Sunshine" depressing? Yes. Confusing (thanks to the hack-job editing and Danny Boyle's "artsy" jiggle-shots)? Yes. A celebration of human incompetence in the face of adversity? Mmm hmm. Chock-full of arbitrary and pointless character deaths? You bet. I wouldn't have backed this sucker, either. Fox is, quite rightly, trying to shovel it on to DVD and have done with it.
