Ya,i found the accent thing weird too..but its justified for Ashima,since she mostly interacts with Bengali housewives.But since Ashoke did his PhD in "Amra" he probably should have had the American accent while speaking in English.
I think the movie was absolutely brilliant.The book is good too,totally worth the two subsequent days of waterworks...but the music streamed into the scenes of the movie made it a better experience than reading the book.The movie is much faster and thank God for the pace.I think this is the only book-to-film adaptation that i have truly enjoyed.
