Hope to see this soon. I heard the word Name sake and shivered. When I was growing up in the American South, you heard this word often. The person who you were named after or the person who was named after you.Namesake referred to some one who was either alive or deceased. The person for whom you were named,if living became a mentor, a godparent or if deceased became an example you carried in your heart. It was a beautiful idea. One of my names was an aunt who died tragically at age 16. As I reached 16 I was afraid I would die also. at my current age of 60, I realize that Namesake does not mean that we have the same fate. If you use the namesake name you can discover different family lines. It is nice to hear the familiar word name sake. Ruby Elizabeth
