John Carney | Fox Searchlight

John was born in Dublin in 1972, and began his film career writing, producing and directing two award-winning short films, SHINING STAR and HOTEL, and directing videos for Irish Band The Frames, with whom he also played bass guitar from 1991 to 1993.

His first feature film, NOVEMBER AFTERNOON, a low-budget black-and-white production, was voted Best Feature of 1997 by the Irish Times, and ran on the U.S. festival circuit.

John wrote, directed and scored his next project, the hour-long TV film JUST IN TIME, starring Frances Barber and Gerard McSorley. The Irish Times voted it Best TV Film of 1998.

He subsequently co-wrote and directed ON THE EDGE, starring Cillian Murphy and Stephen Rea, for Universal Studios. John won the Silver Hitchcock Award for the film at the 2001 Dinard Film Festival. The film received positive notices for its “fine understated performances ... alternating between heart-warming and heartbreaking in equal measure …” and “Carney’s slick visual style and ear for quirky soundtrack choices.” The film was distributed internationally by UIP.

After completing post-production, John turned his hand to TV writing, co-writing and directing three series of the hit RTÉ television series BACHELORS WALK, the most successful independently produced drama in the history of Irish television. BACHELORS WALK was called “the Irish TV success story of the year” in 2002 by the Evening Herald.
John currently resides in Dublin and London.

That said, I've got a story that requires people of like-mind to produce correctly. You will find your time to be well spent with this.

REAL LIFE - DEMONS - ANGELS - PROFOUND MIRACLES - NEAR DEATH ACTION - POIGNANT - REDEMPTIVE - TRUE

Accurately Based on the true life story of a real-live modern Amercian mystic, who is now finally coming out to the world after decades in seclusion. I know the man personally.

An otherwise regular, modestly-assuming, friendly, hardworking, average American man; our principle has been unwittingly, secretly interacting with both Demons & Angels and God himself through the entire course of his life, as they have pursued him. He is clearly gifted with spiritual authority and uncommon capabilities, which he has both employed and held in secret most his life. He has personally extended help to many of our nations poorest people, never taken any money for it, but has himself often lived on a small percentage of his own earnings in order to do so, living in what he calls: "Functional poverty."

Abusively treated by a psychopathic mother and an unavailable alcoholic father; he is given to deep, Einsteinian thought. He doubts his own sanity; contemplates suicide; witnesses miracles, which convince him to endure. He also had some high-action thrill-moments - spirits come to his aid saving him from eminent death.

He's an active, convincing Atheist from the age of 6 to 25; he ends up homeless; a Messenger of God comes to him in his abandoned building-home (appearing as a common man), the covert Angel gives him the answers to lifes deepest (meaning-of-life) questions. This sets him on a new course of profound discovery and heightened spiritual activity.
He goes to church and gets deeply involved in Christian Ministry (to the poor). God proves to him that Religion was the invention of deceitful men, not God, that He (God) hates/tollerates religion, that it damges the human soul and misrepresents spiritual reality. God mandates him to tell the world, starting with this first - a famous Tele-Preacher.

THROUGHLINE --- Miraculous signs move the famous Preacher to become his unwitting apprentice. The Preacher meets with him, rejects his words, but then starts seeing all the gross hypocracy living in himself and his people. He begins seeing demons manifest, playing in his church and home. He sells the church, which is converted into an advanced, wholistic Town Center and Educational Facility for the Previously Homeless . The Preacher moves to a 3rd world country; builds an orphanage, med center and farming co-op.
The 10th of it is not reflected here. The details will positively blow your mind.

Hi,

I interviewed Glen, Marketa and John Carney during the promo tour when they stopped in Phoenix in May. I also shot video of them performing four songs after their film premiered. All of them were really wonderful people and it was my pleasure meeting and speaking to them!
