SEARCHLAB / shorts: Last Tango...

Last Tango in Suburbia

Directed by: Lisa Moncure

A government mental health expert arrives to question a program participant on her mental condition. He is convinced she’s a delusional lunatic when she describes her on-going love affair with a pair of tango-dancing angels. He is stunned to spot the angles waiting on her roof when he exits.

Beautiful. Expertly executed. Layers of sound and image to create a compelling cinematic experience, it is a very moving short film that deserves a feature length treartment.

Really Great Filmmaking!

This director obviously knows what she's doing. From first shot to that last one in the pool, it's great! It pulls you in. The casting is perfect, too. I love how real it (story, characters, prod design, etc) feels-- very Fox Searchlight. I also really like the idea of a 'mental health expert' having hallucinations-- perhaps doubting his own mental health? Could def be a feature!

Very Nice...

I could see this as a longer piece with expansion on the daughter character and also the 2 holly reverand dudes.

Great Job!!!

Nice piece. Is this part of a feature length project? I'd love to see it in the theaters.

The lunatic mother is played by such a realistic actress!

And the tango song song at the end is stunning!
