Billy Bob Thornton made his directing debut in 1996 with Sling Blade. He also wrote Sling Blade and its success garnered him an Academy Award® for Best Screenplay based on Material from Another Medium as well as a Best Actor nomination for his portrayal of Karl Childers.

Billy Bob is sheduled to star in the HBO mini series MAYBERRY RFD 2009 in which he plays the Andy Griffith role in a new town filled with meth labs, prostitution, high unemployment and a crime rate that has made Mayberry to expand its jail and police force. Andy Dick plays Barney Fife and Aunt Bee still bakes pies but she supplements her income with roles as a senior adult film star to help pay for her pharmacy bills that aren't covered by insurance. The story by Dr Rand Pink has also remixed the whistle theme song to include T Pain and Kanye West.

Billy Bob is a great actor, I enjoy almost all of his films. My personal favorite is Bad Santa, funny funny film. I spend most of my time as a Chicago web designer and don't get too much time to watch movies but when I do I enjoy a Billy Bob flick.
