Directed by Kevin Connolly and starring Robert Downey Jr., Amanda Peet, Tim Roth, and Zooey Deschanel.
A 2003 Sundance short, a newly engaged 30 something's plans for a romantic day are thwarted when the man's charismatic and crazy childhood friend arrives with an agenda to celebrate the pending nuptials via a drunken debauch, and the seduction of the new fiancee.
does this piece of brilliant stroytelling even deserve to be critiqued by such a bunch of illiterate morons? I'm sorry - I just don't get it. Reading these reviews just depressed me. If *this* is the so-called 'indie' audience i want to make films for, i'm going mainstream. if you're making films and the only people watching are fools, well..you may as well get paid
I think the actors who portrayed these characters back in 2003 are too old to do a full length version now and be really credible in the parts. I think it might just be one of those films that is short. But, maybe not.
I don't normally like short films, but this one is great, at least in my opinion. As so many people have said already, the cast did wonderfully. And I'm not trying to be biased, seeing as I am a huge fan of RDJ's, but his character was the only one that really caught my interest in such a small amount of time. His acting abilities never cease to amaze me.
Kudos to Peet in this, also.
What's the name of the song when Robert Downey Jr is kissing "Nikky" in the kitchen at 5:30 around ?
This film was a waste of time and good talent. What was being portrayed in it that was so unique or special that a film, even a short, needed to be made? Seems like something just made out of boredom or apathy from living the kinds of lives the characters seem to live. Despite the ending, this movie left me depressed.
I don't think this film was a waste. What it was portraying was un-sweetened, flawed humanity. It is an unapologizing display of four people as only human: mixed up and messed up and needy and unkind and loving and forgiving and weak. That might seem depressing, and maybe it just isn't what you look for in film, but I liked it. Within the truth of humans being very flawed creatures lies the greater truth that we can still be ok to each other and ok within ourselves. All four characters redeemed themselves in the film in one way or other. But maybe I just like the music.
Amanda Peet will surprise everyone in a film by Dr Rand Pink. Amanda stars as a Jewish Orthodox. single parent that becomes Velvet Lipshitz in the adult film Hide The Matzo to pay for her son's over the top Bar Mizvah. The comedy is about the class struggle between the really rich and super rich in Brentwood called Keeping Up With The Slutskys. The cast includes Goldie Hawn, Albert Brooks, Joan Rivers, Don Rickles, Gary Shandling and Amy Sedaris.

It's wonderful to finally see two of my favorite actors together in a film, albeit, a short one. I would have liked to see this expanded into a full length film. Tim Roth and Robert Downey, Jr have always had the ability to completely transform into any character they portray. That is what makes them two of the best actors of today. I really enjoyed this short film! Excellent!!!

Robert Brandon Deah executive producer La 310-927-7202 lets get this film made
I stopped watching as soon as he face pushed her in the restaurant. Give me a break--how is that okay?
does anyone know the name of the last song (starts while Roth is in bed and ends during final credits)
its such a good song, but i haven't been able to find it...any thoughts or ideas would be helpful. thank you!
I found what I am pretty sure the same song near the end, and its called Calling Out by Alan Semerdjian. I could be mistaken though.
liked it ,
the story was really interesting, but i thought the women's characters was a bit too weak.
all of the actors gave an amazing performance, and if Peet's character at times felt a bit boring that was just the way she was supposed to be.
Oh, and i didn't really like the end, why not give us a realistic ending just for once? But hey, it was called whatever we do, so i guess it's appropriate
I think it could have been better. Robert is a good actor but over acted. He tried too hard. And at times I couldn't understand him. I guess cause he was drunk, even though he didn't seem that drunk. The chick with the brown hair seemed at times ,out of her role.Maybe bored? Tim was great most of the time. Zooey was great as well. The theme was cool but I think when Tim wasn't drunk, he should have kicked him out.
I don't think any of the characters were really drunk, only acting it. I don't think they were any more or less guilty or innocent, and it was just a twist of fate as to how it turned out. Robert's acting was good and so were the rest of the actors/actresses. It should have been longer, and more developed, to be much funnier. It had potential as a story if it ws developed into a feature length film.
I liked the concept of the story. Everyone has that friend that comes around after a long incident, and you can't remember why you didn't want to see them again right away, but once the visit's over, it hits you like a ton of bricks. I think the fact that RDJ's character seemed to be that friend that was envious, and yet needed Tim's character at the same time was a lot to show in such a short period of time. Well done. And Tim's character needs RDJ's character to kind of remind him that things could always be worse. They're like Yin and Yang.
But the fact that the Tim character did it with RDJ's character's girlfriend in the bathroom was hardly okay. They were all pretty human and guilty of not being angelic. So, maybe another way of seeing it is that maybe they all needed each other to wake up to their own fallibility, and live with it anyway. And maybe even like or love each other. Or hate each other if nothing else works.
i got to flow joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Do you KNow old balls yet? read about him.
Very nice, hot short movie. Great casting, Robert Downey Jr. always gives a perfect performance to whatever he does, and not to mention he's smokin hot.

I was thinking about this video. What if the roles were reversed, and Patty got mad at her guy Joe for fooling around with the other girl Nikki, like when he kissed her at the entrance of the house in the opening scene. What if Patty had a big scene at the bar and bathroom, instead of JOe. Would this movie have been intersting or too strange?
I think all four main actors play their parts equally in terms of attention. The focus is on the concept of tit for tat and how different people handle this based on their character which is
personal and somewhat gender driven. I think the story has potential as a longer movie and it really seems too short. I think there were many scenes which could have gone further, including the part where Downey goes over the side of the pool. How did he get back up? It could have added some humor to the scene. club penguin
I don't think the women actresses in the movie were any less valid than the male actors. It took all of them to make the short film happen as a creative expression. I don't think the women had much of a voice in this film, which might make them seem less interesting. I think the women were typically being used by the men, and no less by the Tim Roth character Joey. The tit for tat behavior of the men was a territory ego issue, rather than about love and respect. The men were very sexually motivated but the ending was perhaps about love. I think if the women, Amanda Peet's character Patty and Zooey Deschanel's character Mickey had been more assertive and less amenable, conciliatory and seeking compromise and even subjegation by the men they would have appeared more interesting to viewers. There was room for expansion of this film in different and interesting directions, including humor--like the pool scene, or even the bathroom scene, and just about the people as humans with other motives besides relationships, but on the subject of relationships it was thought provoking. RDJ's character Bobby was a complex character in that he crossed the lines of behavior in being less typically male chauvinist. The song at the end was a good theme song.
The only thing I got from this was a new appreciation of Tim Roth. Already knew RDJ was excellent - he's the only reason I wanted to watch. (I don't know Zooey Deschanel, but I don't like Amanda Peet - she's very one-dimensional in everything she does.) It's only the male performances that lift this script above the banal. Selfish, irritating people who irritate each other in selfish ways. The music was synthetic - it was used as a shorthand to elicit emotion that the script was too weak to inspire on its own. The last shot of Robert Downey Jr's face was probably the best moment in the film - second best was Tim Roth's open-handed push/smack to Amanda Peet. (What an amazing thing he did, just sitting there and seething.) But overall I didn't feel anything for any of these characters and so it meant nothing when the two at the end reconciled or whatever they did. I would have liked it more if I hadn't felt that every moment was telegraphed in advance. Oh well. Going to look up Tim Roth on Wikipedia now and rent something good that he was in.
does anyone know the name of the songs on this video and the artists?
this is a remake of the nineteen eighties film starring robert downey jr, Less Than Zero. worthless effort.
Does anyone known the song is playing during the scene where Tim Roth is drinking Tequila shots? Nice short btw, great cast!
amazing movie.. i just didnt get the end...
did she come back after having sex w/ someone and getting
drunk herself or just came back based on her own intuition.
i think the ending was lame. but maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. except for the song.
I try to see everything Tim Roth and Robert Downey Jr. are in. Tim Roth,
from a hood in New York to a nobleman in Ireland. Robert Downey Jr. from
less than zero to a wonder boy.
Together these two are great. Four stars ****
You weasels actully live like this? The common sentiment on here is that this is the norm and expected behavior. Sorry existence for those who do.

great film. Downey even most impressive than usual.
