Hello,
I am part of an organization at University of Illinois at Chicago, and we wanted to watch the movie Water in public space. However, we need permission from the distrubutor to show the movie on campus grounds. I was hoping that someone can help me get some sort of written permission so we can see this movie. I would really appreciate it.
Please email me at ppatel96@uic.edu
Thanks

Why is it that the senior actress Manorama did not get any recognition for her role in Water although she was quite prominent throughtout the movie and her performance was amazingly powerful. She should have been nominated.
What is Deepa's email address ?
Now the reason I am writing to you is that Manorama
deserved some recognition for her role in Water. If I had not seen her in Water I thought she was dead long ago.
She was simply superb in Water. Everyone else associated with the movie got recognition and red carpet treatment.
The senior actress - atleast I have not noticed getting any credit for her performance.
Finally your Heaven on Earth. Why would you want to direct a film on wife abuse when such roles have been done just in recent past. Aishwarya Rai's provoked was a complete disaster with Naveen Andrews although her acting got good critics review. Farrah Fawcett had also done a made for TV film on an abused woman and so also halle berry. So why would you want to take on similar subject ?

Question for Deepa Mehta:

i loved "Water" - the entire trilogy is fantastic!!

Yet, i wonder, in addressing the theme of women's place in India, had you considered addressing femalegenocide - the killing of baby girls and, now that technology enables it, the targeted aborting of female fetuses, that seems quite common in parts of India?

Bad enough that religious dogma incentivises families to avoid having baby girls! What becomes of a society which has a demography with an unnatural surplus of males?! It can only be good for the generals, monk recruiters and male-prostitute pimps.

This I suggest is the most far reaching existential threat to the world. The two most populated countries, China and India, both having a cultural bias that favors femalegenocide, resulting in surplus male populations. THAT is more testosteran than the world was made to handle.

This week "The Washington Times" in Washington DC is running a four-part story called "The Killing of Eve" that addresses the female-genocide situation.

I hope that you have time to respond to me Ms. Mehta.
