It's a SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE World!

Below is just a tiny - and I mean TINY - sampling of what's available right now of online articles, videos and photos about the little film that won "Best Picture" and seven other statues at the Academy Awards® on Sunday night. Enjoy...

The Associated Press: "'Slumdog' Child Actors Return to Heroes' Welcome"

"The child stars of the Oscar®-winning "Slumdog Millionaire" returned to India on Thursday to a chaotic but rousing heroes' welcome. Hundreds of well-wishers waited for them at the Mumbai airport, where dozens of police, some heavily armed, were needed to escort the children through the cheering crowds." (Watch video of their arrival below! Plus, read a similar article by Reuters.)

TMZ.com: "SLUMDOG Kids Cave to Pier Pressure"

Okay, the pun is cheesy, but the video of the kids from SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE having the time of their lives at the Santa Monica Pier in California following their movie's Oscar® win is pretty adorable... Watch the video!

The Telegraph: "SLUMDOG Star to Appear On Millionaire Game Show'"

"Dev Patel, the star of Oscar®-winning British film 'Slumdog Millionaire,' is going on the real 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?' quiz show to raise money for street children." Be sure to watch the accompanying video of Dev below!

Entertainment Weekly: SLUMDOG Stars Make the Cover!

From JustJared.com: SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE on-screen lovers Dev Patel (in Burberry) and Freida Pinto (in Roberto Cavalli) pose with their eight Oscar® statues on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly. (See cover image at bottom.)

Vogue: Freida Pinto Makes the Cover!

Pinto, 24, who was signed on by Hollywood filmmaker Woody Allen, posed for the cover of Vogue's March issue. The magazine, which hits stands today, features exclusive interviews about life before the Oscars®, bonding with Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio and her future plans.

The Washington Post: "Obama a 'Slumdog Millionaire' Fan"

"President Obama may not be delivering a State of the Union tonight, but he's adhering to one apparently unshakable SOTU tradition: lunching with the anchors. The purpose, of course, was to spin -- or guide -- the journalistic guests on the speech to Congress. But one participant tells me the president began by talking about 'Slumdog Millionaire,' the India-based film that cleaned up at the Oscars. Obama said the movie reminded him of the years he spent in Indonesia."

The New York Times: "A Starless Movie’s Starry Night"

"There were plenty of questions and photos for many of the [Oscar] winners, including a few who were up past their bedtimes. The kids from 'Slumdog Millionaire,' flown in just a few days before from India, moved as a posse, and the director Danny Boyle placed the statue on Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail’s head for one photo and took turns holding it with the others. He said that although he had managed the children on screen, 'I am not going to be the one to tell them it’s time to go to bed.'"

Google announced today a new, experimental idea aiming to reshape the future of communication on the web. It's called Wave, and if you believe its developer, it's "what email would look like if it were invented today." It's also going to be totally open source. Intrigued?

I know I'm not the only one who is concerned for the children (Azharuddin and Rubina). I guess I'm naive because it never occurred to me that the children would still end up living in the slums. This film is making upwards of $200 million dollars largely because of the outstanding child actors. They should be compensated with at least a million each. I was one of the first people to see this film. I urged everyone I knew to go and see it. I'm so sad that the financial success isn't being seen by those children. I hope that Danny Boyle does whatever he can to compensate the children now, not only when they are 18.

In response. I still blame hollywood for using the underclass to make millions for their own gains. Whether the children were offered fair compensation or the parents tried to sell the young girl is irrelative, the fact remains that the director and hollywood could be the true heros by making a difference in the lives of those who made them money. I have been to the Phillipines and India and seen these slums. For a few thousands dollars a whole neighborhood could be built. Allowing these people to live where they are use to, but giving them a more permanent home and cleaning up these slum areas. Where a strip of homes (2 rooms living and sleeping), a communal water well and sewer system and recreation area could save the lives of 100s of slum dwellers. No this is not what we as Americans call home, but when you have nothing and your home is made out of palms, old tires, sheet metal and whatever else you scavenged to put up; a 2 room commune is a permentant home that they can call their own. Those that live in these homes are responsible for keeping up the area, working in the communal garden and working together to support each other. Hollywood brought these slums to the publics attention, know let's tell them it's time for Hollywwod to give back to those they have used. I really wanted to see this movie, but I won't and I won't go to any movies to support Hollywood and it's self center actors greed.

Scars of Oscar

A boy was living in a slum happily. One fine morning a Hollywood director signs him for a movie on slums. The movie wins Oscars and the boy becomes international hero. Visit to Hollywood, International media attention, suddenly the boy finds himself in a new world. Endless interviews, camera flashes etc etc. Tired of all this , he refuses interviews and his fathers starts beating him. For him (the father) this is a golden opportunity and he could not see it just slipping away. The Government also gives them a good house and the boy is shifted to a new school. But nobody was willing to befriend this kid in his new school. They still treat him as a boy with excreta all over his body though he washed it long back. The boy starts hating his new overnight change in his life and one fine day, walks back to him slum.
Ending Shot:
He walks into a western toilet, throws an angry look at the commode and the toilet paper there, thrashes it, takes out an empty Bisleri bottle, fills it up with water, and starts walking to the fields….
Away from Hollywood……
Away from Media…….
Away from Govt…….
Away from Public…….

And the song goes ....Phir Na Ho ( Not again)

haha thats funny... it might be funny for you but what about the people living in slums ? I think this movie should be a eye opener for everyone not just entrainment.
Online Diploma

I think its great that Danny Boyle is providing an education and a trust fund for these two children but whats happening about the houses they are supposed to get from Boyle and from the Indian govt???

How long does that take to fix please. Its not fair on those two children. Please make sure that Azhrudddins father cannot sell or rent out that house.thats the only way so please do something.its not fair on those two kids.i do understand you need to be careful with the parents but make sure the kids get the education, fund and house. Thanks

There is no need to be racist. Bollywood is not taking over Hollywood. There is no such thing as a soley American movie anyhow. People from all over the world work in Hollywood. Some actors and actresses that star in "American" movies aren't Americans. Think about what you are saying. Even the Governer of California is from Austria! Get clue dude. Open you're mind and think outside of the box. It's people like you who keep bigotry alive, and makes tolerance harder to achieve world wide. I am so disappointed knowing that it isn't enough that are jobs are being lost to India and now Bollywood is taking over Hollywood. There is no way that this movie should have sexy lingerie sexy costumes bedroom furniture ever been considered. Is nothing soley American anymore? The worst Oscar win EVER!What a great movie ! Your comments are racist! Obviously not enough taste to appreciate art..sad
