SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE & THE WRESTLER Nominated for 12 Oscars®!

It was an exciting morning for Fox Searchlight as the Academy nominations were read bright and early (and live) this morning on television  - a BIG congratulations to our Academy Award® nominees!

Want to watch the nominations announced? See the video at the bottom of the post! For a full list of Academy nominees visit Oscars.com.

Here's what Oscar nominated director Danny Boyle and producer Christian Colson (both in connection to SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE) each had to say upon hearing the news:

I'm ecstatic! Thank you to the Academy from the cast and crew here in Mumbai where the film was made and where it's being premiered tonight. It feels like you've given us a billion nominations!" (Danny Boyle)

"It is wonderful to receive this amazing news here in Mumbai where we are premiering the movie tonight. All the filmmakers are deeply proud of this recognition which we also hope will bring great joy to the people of this great city. A huge thank you to the Academy... and 'Jai Ho!'" (Christian Colson)

And in the spirit of celebrating one of our nominees, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, check out this great photo of director Danny Boyle and the cast from the film featured in The Guardian:

Why don't those who complain about SlumDog Millionaire perhaps read the novel Q & A first and although some changes may have been made it is an excellent movie. There is a connection between the character of Dev Patel in the movie to the slums and therefore the slums are vital to the story and so are the slum children. Why are people protesting ? They should be happy that it won 10 Oscar nominations and go see this gem of a movie. My only complain is that the slum children who act in the movie are not getting their day in the limelight. They are not actors and yet they have prominent roles and they truly did an outstanding job. I hope that the producers of the movie clean them up and fly them to the Oscar ceremonies and let them walk the red carpet and get to see the City.
The lead actors should perform the dance number to the song Jai Ho which has been nominated. They should dance with a group of Bollywood dancers and the setting for the dance number should be a railway platform - just like in the movie where the song and dance took place. This would be a good showcase of our Bollywood dancing to the North American audiences.

Why not just say Slumdog Millionare won 10 nominations?

The senior actress - atleast I have not noticed getting any credit for her performance.
Finally your Heaven on Earth. Why would you want to direct a film on wife abuse when such roles have been done just in recent past. Aishwarya Rai's provoked was a complete disaster with Naveen Andrews sexy lingerielingeriealthough her acting got good critics review. Farrah Fawcett had also done a made for TV film on an abused woman and so also halle berry. So why would you want to take on similar subject
