Having heard so much about this film over the last 7 months and being so deeply interested in this topic (I was born in Mumbai and lived there for 10 years), I am basically left helpless if I want to watch it in every way possible.

Why? I live in New Zealand. Yeah, if this movie isn't release in the biggest country in the planet and one which it is based in until February, you can basically conclude this isn't releasing in New Zealand... ever.

So, I'm left with a couple options:

- Wait for it to come out on DVD (which, btw, is going to take a million years).
- Pirate it when it's put online (which, btw, is going to half a million years).

I can say with all my heart crossed to anyone that I would seriously be willing to spend up to $300 to watch this movie if I got the chance to see it RIGHT NOW.

How shameful is it that we live in a society today where such master works of art are missed by even those willing to sacrifice 2 months of their rent to appreciate it?!

It seems that the movie is being released in Charlotte, on Dec 19th. Can this release date be postponed to Nov 12th. There are many indians here as a result of the software jobs and clients like Bank Of america and wachovia having headquarters housed here. One would really love to catch this movie on its actual release date.

I understand this is considered an "art-house" film and you want to expand it slowly but this is ridiculous! 10 screens, 32 screens, 44 screens, when is it going to be on 800 screens or more? I've seen smaller films with unknown directors open a lot wider than this.
It's a shame such a great film is being miss managed like this.

Korea anytime? Ever?

I am thinking not, but how could I see this, living in South Korea? Thanks.

Anonymous | November 8th, 2008 13:21

Are there screenings in Canada?

Someone else asked the same question and the reply was that there is a screening in Montreal on Dec 19 - but there is not listing for Dec 19.

Will there be anything in Toronto?

Anonymous | November 15th, 2008 05:46

Why isn't this a wide release? It looks like it would have some mainstream appeal. Any possibility this will be coming to my college? Bloomington, Indiana. About an hour south of Indianapolis.

When will the movie be released in India? We are eagerly waiting for it to be released!!!

How come I can't see which theatres will be showing it and times?

Anonymous | December 3rd, 2008 13:02

Anonymous | January 1st, 2009 03:56

Too Good to let go... must watch for every movie buff... every Mumbaite, every Indian... this is the way the movies are made.. A lesson for Indian film industry (Bollywood).

Am I really going to have to drive 2 hours to Phoenix to see this movie! Curse the cultural backwater that is Flagstaff.

I'm in Korea too. If you're interested in making some type of gathering, let me know. sungmin82@gmail.com

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous that a movie based on an Indian book won't be released in India till the end of January. No excuse considering News Corp. practically owns Indian media with Star. Also, I would assume this movie would do well in India since the book was so popular. Yeah, literate Indians? Blows my mind, too.

Anonymous | December 2nd, 2008 17:14

Please, please, please, get this movie atleast for 1 day in evansville, Indiana...We are ready to shell out $500...Seriously..

Anonymous | December 5th, 2008 15:30

reading the comments makes me think that the American disease of 'I want it NOW' seems to have taken over the world. Can't wait a couple of weeks/months to see a movie? Send that $500 you want to sacrifice to someone who needs it for food/water/shelter! Most of us who want to see it will get the chance. While we're waiting, people are dying - not to see a movie - but from starvation and dirty water diseses.

whatever u saw is just a small part of India, which apparently was the whole movie, this kind of slums you'll find in all the big cities of the world, including Los Angeles, just visit some parts of Downtown sometime, you'll get to know the reality.

In areas where human exposure is not high, no remediation needs to be done, points out Balonov. ¡°If we do not expect health or environmental effects, we should not waste resources and effort on low priority, low contamination areas,¡± he explains. ¡°We need to focus our efforts and resources on real problems.

An indian movie not being released india!!!!
That's totally unfair........

Anonymous | November 20th, 2008 00:43

I think they should be bold enough to release nation wide, they think it is word of mouth publicity, but it is word of internet world, they have to be pro-active and bold, before pirates take note of it. I am sure the general public would be appreciative of this movie subject.

Anonymous | November 27th, 2008 20:37

I totally agree. :( I'm going to have to drive half an hour to see it, and wait a couple of weeks! this is terrible...

Anonymous | December 4th, 2008 13:36

Can You please release the movie in Evansville, IN. People from small towns from the Tristate are really wanting to see the movie that was shoot in Mumbai? You will have a big audience! Thankyou from small town America!

If u have the balls then come to India and see its beauty and prosperity rather than being a jackass yourself and puling out shit out of your mouth by just sitting there and writing comments. DEAL WITH REALITY DUDE, spend ur money on ur pizzas and do not think of donating it to India as we are not in need of it. Hope I m well understood.

Anonymous | November 25th, 2008 08:45

Will the movie ever be coming to theaters in New Jersey? And, if so, when and where in NJ?I don't see that anywhere on the listings noted above. With all of the positive reviews the movie is getting I'm amazed that distribution isn't better and more timely. I have to agree with the comment above as to potentially missing the movie's "15 minutes of fame."

Anonymous | November 16th, 2008 18:31

you mean prepone not postpone, right? and it's not like those software jobs with BankAm and Wachovia are going offshore by dec 19th. not sure what argument you're trying to make but the corelation between the jobs and the preponement doesnt really sound justified.

Anonymous | November 22nd, 2008 22:30

WHY DON'T YOU RELEASE THE FILM IN THE COUNTRY WHERE IT WAS ACTUALLY SHOT?

YOU DO REALIZE THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE IN INDIA WHO SPEAK ENGLISH AND WATCH ENGLISH CINEMA.

I live in central New Jersey, and noticed that the movie is playing in Philadelphia now (Dec 10). I think that's our best bet.

Hi, I see the movie will get released in Seattle on November 21 but I do not see where it will be released and cannot find tickets for any date after the official "release" date. Can you tell me when and where it will be showing in seattle?

Anonymous | December 1st, 2008 17:11

why is the movie not being released in NJ?

Anonymous | December 3rd, 2008 16:31

This movie is played in Showcase at the Ritz at Voorhees, Nj

Anonymous | December 2nd, 2008 22:49

It is being released in NZ on 5th February, or you can fly to Austalia and see it on the 18th December.
