"ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF THE YEAR... told with uncommon humanity, wit and humor... The Savages' is singularly funny and seriously moving...It confronts life in all its existential bleakness and finds humor, comfort even joy in small moments."
-- The Los Angeles Times, Carina Chocano

"'The Savages'...left me with a sense of acute pleasure, even joy. It's the pleasure of a true-to-life tale told by a director and actors who've sunk so deep into their movie together you wonder how they ever surfaced."
-- The New York Times, Manohla Dargis

"Laura Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman are two of the most talented actors of their generation. Even with their impressive resumes, this is a tour de force for both."
-- USA TODAY, Claudia Puig

"Laura Linney is an amazement, showing vulnerability and strength at war for a character's soul."
-- Rolling Stone, Peter Travers

"As brother and sister Jon and Wendy Savage, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney - two of the most focused, natural actors working today - are in peak form, and together they play off each other with the unfettered, joyous collaboration of great chamber musicians."
-- Entertainment Weekly, Lisa Schwarzbaum

"Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney are superb, investing their damaged characters with rich, flawed, hilarious humanity."
-- Newsweek, David Ansen

"Philip Bosco, a theater legend, seizes his juiciest film role and makes every shocking moment count."
-- Rolling Stone, Peter Travers

"Writer-director Tamara Jenkins brings a quirky honesty and a clear-eyed wit to the table. Her sweet and tart sensibility is located halfway between the compassionate satire of an Alexander Payne and the comic sang-froid of a Todd Solondz, and her sardonic, deadpan humor provides a bittersweet X-ray into American family dynamics."
-- Newsweek, David Ansen

"4 stars"
-- Time Out New York, Joshua Rothkopf

"ONE OF THE BEST FILMS OF THE YEAR"
-- New York Magazine, David Edelstein

I was waiting for it. JOYYY!

When and where will it be playing in the Raleigh, NC area?

I can't get to this movie in my area...I agree - we need wider distribution -
Raleigh, NC

When will the film open in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?

Is this movie any good?

After crying then nearly rolling in the isle while viewing "The Savages" at the Savannah Film Festival, I took a new look at my life and what may be my future with family members.A true lesson on growing older and dealing with it. But I did leave smiling and would recommend all to see this film....I loved it !

When will The Savages be playing in other cities?

Searched REGAL and other cinemas and could not find it in Georgia --- when is the release date?

Tried to see it Saturday Dec 1 at both NYC movie houses. Sold out in all but late evening screenings. This film is "crying" for wider distribution. What's up?
