Synopsis:
DAY WATCH revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides. Each side has gained a powerful Great Other, who are headed for a clash, and Anton Gorodetsky is once again caught up in the midst of this conflict. On one side is Anton’s son, Egor, who has joined the ranks of the Dark Others, while Anton’s love interest Svetlana is the hope of the Light. But that’s just the beginning of his troubles: Anton is on the run after having been accused of murder. Things are getting worse, and only the ancient Chalk of Fate can save the day. same as the above comments, i'm about to rebuy the movie via download so i can enjoy the ACTUAL translation and not what some nimwhit randomly jotted down...

so again... the unrated version of day watch might have more movie but the translation has got to be way off.

Contrary to the opinion of

Contrary to the opinion of the poster before me, the version of Day Watch released here is actually the original Russian edit of the film.

And considering the grossly inaccurate translation of the theatrical subtitles (as cool they might look), the subtitles on this DVD are actually an advantage, as they are actually more accurate.

This release doesn't have the cool subtitles of the theatrical version and, while it's touted as 'UNRATED', it's still cut from the original.
I feel ripped off. it's bad enough fox made everyone that wanted to see this movie wait for ages, but this is pretty much an insult. If i would've known i would've just bought a better version in a different region.

As a Texan, I very much appreciate what Wes Anderson is doing for Texas' film community. I grew up in the neighborhood where Rushmore was filmed and I remember the buzz it created; it was electrifying and is the reason I moved to sexy lingerie LA to pursue a career in film making. Texas has many stereotypes, but film, good film, is rarely associated with the state. Wes Anderson has hugely contributed to film internationally, but he has also sparked a film community in the Lone Star State.
