With Fox Searchlight's upcoming JOSHUA (July 6th) in mind, we asked Searchlight employees two questions concerning their childhoods -- though hopefully concerning aspects not as dark as those in the psychological thriller around the corner...

Check out some of their responses -- and tell us your own answers in the comments box below.

P.S. Obviously not all Searchlighters grasp the concept of "one word." :)

What one word best describes you as a child?

  • "Extra-curricular"
  • "Precocious" (Most popular response)
  • "Obedient"
  • "Everyone used to call me 'boo boo' because I was constantly getting hurt/bruised/falling."
  • "Not guilty"
  • "Too cute for words"
  • "Free-spirited"
  • "Ankle biter"
  • "Perfect"
  • "Gymnastical"
  • "Dork"
  • "Disturbingly cute"
  • "Sweet (with pensive as a close 2nd)"
  • "Curious"
  • "Cynical"
  • "Quiet"
  • "Creative"

Who's your favorite child character from the movies?

  • "Scout from TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD" (2 votes!)
  • "The younger brother in MILLIONS"
  • "Pippi Longstocking"
  • "Curly Sue"
  • "The ones that pee on people"
  • "Shirley Temple"
  • "Dakota Fanning"
  • "The feral kid in THE ROAD WARRIOR"
  • "The classic child character of our generation: Elliot from E.T."
  • "'Two Dollar Kid' from BETTER OFF DEAD"
  • "The Artful Dodger from OLIVER TWIST"
  • "Julie Harrris as Frankie Adams in THE MEMBER OF THE WEDDING
  • Haley Joel Osment in THE SIXTH SENSE"
  • "Chunk from THE GOONIES"
  • "Newt from ALIENS"
  • "Punky Brewster" (Note from editor: Isn't this a character from a TV series, not a movie?)
  • Davey of "Davey & Goliath" (Ditto on the above TV comment.)

Now as I said it's your turn to answer the questions... we look forward to hearing from you.

And be sure to check out JOSHUA when it hits select theaters on July 6th!

Me as a child, ha ha, my mother wanted to kill me,normally I was a pretty quiet kid, again Mother saw different, but I turned out ok for the most part.

Moody. Liked detective magazines, books on serial killers. brought home poison from science class to use on my grandmother but never did. Profiler once told be I probably would have been a serial killer...if I weren't a girl.

headstrong.

I always liked the kids who didn't need adults to help them along in their adventures. I like anyone who is independent enough to go it alone.

I would just like to comment from a perspective of someone who hasn't yet seen the movie. I read the book and at 29 years old and an English teacher, it is now my new favorite. Wow. Knowing very little about the movie, however, I am perplexed at who the actresses are playing. I pictured them all so much older, especially Rosaleen and August, so I am really wondering who sexy lingerie bedroom furniture Queen Latifa plays, and what about Alicia Keys? I'm completely dumbfounded, but can't wait to see how it all plays out. I'm going to see it tonight!
