The New York Times ran a wonderful article on WAITRESS today entitled "Looking for Solace in a Slice of Pie" in its "Dining In" section; you can access it here.
The article talks a great deal about the late Adrienne Shelly -- the director, screenwriter and actor behind WAITRESS -- and her tireless devotion to her film. (Shelly is pictured to the right.)
And, of course -- being in the dining section of the paper -- it devotes much time to the sweetest elements of the movie, the pies themselves: the pies the cast members and crew ate, the pies that appeared throughout the movie, the ones they made names up for, and much more...

Thank you all for this lovely, thoughtful and well crafted
film. I sat with my 15 year old daughter and often looked
over at her with joy on her face and transition in her eyes
between young girl and woman. This movie made such a mark
on both of our souls. It all came together like an incredible pie itself. I will cherish this movie and the
affects it had on my heart and mind while watching it.
I will enjoy seeing it again and again. It's just one of
those pieces of art that you want to hang in your mind
and stand back and look at trying to see something you might
have not seen the last time you looked at it in awe!
From the heart,
