What way are these films better to watch?! Because i hate when it's dubbed over and the english words don't match up to their mouths..But also have a hard time following the story if it's just in english subtitles while they speak russian...What do you think would be best for me? Just need someone's opinion.. I don't speak russian at all by the way.

you have to be intelligent to really grasp this film,and if you do not believe in God or dont care this movie is not for you.
i think the movies are creative,great and nice change from a totally hollywood movie. i hope the russians put out alot more films like this!

I'm gonna cry if they don't stick to the cast of the 1st 2 films for the thrid......the only problem I had with day watch was the subtitles....I speak some russian and they were loose to say the least in parts.

Also for all those that thought the CoF was to much of a magic wand.....please read up on some history, legends are riddled with such items (mainly Asain).

I really didn't know what to expect the first time I watched the movies. One of my guy friends told me that it was a must see so I watched them in Russian. They had super swell graffics. I cannot wait to buy the third!-Victoria, 21

Good job I watched Night Watch first. What a Film!
This sequel is not fit to be called so. What a let down. Lets hope the third installment gets back to the feel of the first one. Thats what you get for trying to go all "Hollywood" on yourself and forgetting your roots.

I am English but please for FS please shoot it in Russian with the original cast or you will crucify this film series.

Although these are certainly the most interesting films I've seen in a long time, I've got to say that the literary convention of the Chalk of Fate was really just a bit too basic an "out" for the storyline. I realise that the point of the film is that no matter what the situation turns into, there is always hope and always a way to fix it, but the Chalk really was too much of a magic wand. The resolution came about much much too quickly. The first one was brilliant. The second one suffers from a derivative ending. And the third one..... oh god, PLEASE don't let it suffer from losing Khabensky and all the rest! Gesser and Zevulon and Olga and ALL of them are perfectly cast as it is!

I'm sorry. I love foreign movies and I really liked Night Watch. But this movie sucked ass. It became a high priced sequal. It was paced horribly. It easily could have cut at least 30 minutes off the run time. Parts of this movie made absolutely no sense. As they are all getting killed in the last scene in a penthouse party, they are still dancing instead of running. It kept setting up confrontations that never happened. The scene where Moscow is being destroyed was an exact copy of the destruction scenes in Independance Day and the Day After Tomorrow. This could have been done so much better. Maybe the first one had my expectations set too high for the sequal, but like American movies it stretched the original too far and tried to rely on special effects to carry the movie. It way didn't do it. Let's hope Dusk Watch can get back to the tone and feel of the original.

i know that it CAN be difficult to understand the plot of the movies if you don't speak russian. But if you DO understand, then it becomes so much better. there are so many linguistic touches and finesses in those movies (specially in the second one) that are unfortunately not possible to translate from russian to any other languages.

i am from russia, but i live in sweden, so i have seen both movies in russian, swedish and english.. And i have to say that the movies loses very much of their charm beeng translated... that is sad!
the reason might be 'couse russian language is one of the most richest and difficult languages.

exemple of that is clearly viewed in the second movie, where anton and olga switched bodies with eachother. they are not used to be or act beeng of opposit sex, so they are making many misstakes while talking, becouse in russian language there are different of how a man would say a frase and how a woman would say the same frase.. here is one of exemples from the second movie:

Anton in olgas bodie came to 'others education class' to get svetlana and says:
-'i would like to get/talk to svetlana'
in english (so as in swedish) this frase would sound exactly the same no matter if it was a women or a man who said it, but in russian there is different:
if a man:
-'Ya by hotel zabraty svetlanu'
if a women:
-'Ya by hotela zabraty svetlanu'
so this little change at the end of the word is making big difference, especially becouse anton in olgas body used the wrong form...

this is only one of MANY other similar differences that make those movies MUCH better in their original language!

reshot as Vanilla Sky and the
original far exceeded the remake.
At the end, you were left to your
imagination as to what the truth

Just watched the US DVD release of Day Watch. Anyone know the name of the song at the end after Anton's fixed things back in 1992 and if it's on the soundtrack CD?

I don't understand why the russian film get into american film, try to be "like american film".

I enjoyed the movie.. i've only seen Daywatch so it's all i can comment on though.

i'd really only give it an 8/10 there are better movies out there, but i feel they did a good job on this one.

I'm about to go get Nightwatch and see how things compare now.

I don't understand all this praise for Day Watch. I saw Night Watch years ago and asbolutely loved it. I just watched Day Watch today and think it really didn't handle the whole light/dark duality well. I don't know, I just think the first one's story was leaps better.

I don't think Russian Cinema needs to prove anything. Least of all to Hollywood. If you want to talk about a great Russian film maker though, Andrei Tarkovsky was and still is a great. Can't wait to see these films.

And for all of you who are worried that the 3rd movie will have new actors...wel have no fear, becuase I heard that the script will by a russian guy, the movie director will still be TImur Belmambetov, and the acotrs will be the same, just that The production compnay will be American and shot in America, like the producers will be Americans, Camera men, Editors..ect. So That's what I've heard.

Oh and I dont think the 3rd movie wil be the last one. becuase these movies are based on books, Night Watch, Day Watch, Dusk Watch, and the 4th book is already released, it is called the Final Watch. So I think they will finish off with a 4th movie.

I hope to hell that they shoot DUSKWATCH or TWILIGHTWATCH (I like this title better), in the original language of Russion just for reasons of continuity and also because they've forgotten that part of the appeal to people like me was that with it being in Russian it made it a very unique experience. Lastly, soon after they wrap Part 3, they need to make a killer DVD box set like the Matrix or Superman set that came out recently.

I just saw Night Watch and was quite pleased! I am very happy to see a good movie, it's been awhile. I am pissed off thou that it is taking so long for Fox to get the movie to America, and even more pissed that the last in the series may be filmed here in the U.S.. Hollywood is on crack like most of it's actors are! This movie needs to stay in Russia with the original cast. I wish Fox would stop playing fairy games with the fans and release the dvd in the U.S. and not wait more then a year after the movie was shot. The only thing Hollywood movie exec's are good for these days is killing creativity!

I've seen Night Watch on DVD. Now I'm waiting for Day Watch on DVD.

I must agree, I have never seen a movie as good, excuse me as great as this!!
I've seen movies from all around the world (from german, american, dutch and Russian), but this movie can compeet with the biggest movie productions and to be honnest, they should get a grammy or oscar or what ever kind of awards there are.

Does anyone know when Day Watch is coming out on DVD? They did not have any theaters here showing it.

Anyone who knocks this movie needs to just stay the hell out this is for fans not fuckers who have a closed mind. The only reason they can't like this movie is because they are too fucking dumb to understand how to whipe their own ass. An excellent movie by any measure!

This is a great realization of some interesting concepts and the fact that it spans myth, lore, urban legend and sci-fi make it unique.

Night Watch was excellent and I expect Day Watch and Dusk Watch to be even better.

Nightwatch and Daywatch were both horrible!!!!!
Nightwatch the worst. Cheap special effects, the "light" and the "dark". Give me break, that isn't original at all. So cheesey!!!!! Seems like a group of homeless kids filmed this. I think Russian films are terrible. If this is the best one according to them, then I wonder how bad all the others are... I watched Nightwatch with about 10 other people and we were all so bored through the entire film. I watch a lot of foreign films but that was by far the worst. Too predictable and boring...
These movies are a waste of money, THAT is why it isn't showing at a lot of theaters.
