Michael Arndt enjoyed a day in the sun yesterday (among more to come, no doubt). He won:

Writers Guild Award for "Best Original Screenplay" for LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE

In addition he won a BAFTA Award in the same category, "Best Original Screenplay."

But Michael wasn't Searchlight's only BAFTA winner!

  • THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND won "The Alexander Korda Award" for "Outstanding British Film of the Year." Filmmaker credits go to Andrea Calderwood, Lisa Bryer, Charles Steel, Kevin Macdonald, Peter Morgan, and Jeremy Brock.
  • LKOS's screenwriters also won for "Best Adapted Screenplay" - kudos go to Peter Morgan and Jeremy Brock.
  • Forest Whitaker won the BAFTA for "Best Actor."
  • Last but certainly not least, LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE's Alan Arkin won the "Best Supporting Actor" BAFTA award.

Congratulations to the talent behind such two VERY different films!
