i loved "Water" - the entire trilogy is fantastic!!
Yet, i wonder, in addressing the theme of women's place in India, had you considered addressing femalegenocide - the killing of baby girls and, now that technology enables it, the targeted aborting of female fetuses, that seems quite common in parts of India?
Bad enough that religious dogma incentivises families to avoid having baby girls! What becomes of a society which has a demography with an unnatural surplus of males?! It can only be good for the generals, monk recruiters and male-prostitute pimps.
This I suggest is the most far reaching existential threat to the world. The two most populated countries, China and India, both having a cultural bias that favors femalegenocide, resulting in surplus male populations. THAT is more testosteran than the world was made to handle.
This week "The Washington Times" in Washington DC is running a four-part story called "The Killing of Eve" that addresses the female-genocide situation.
I hope that you have time to respond to me Ms. Mehta.
