My 13.5 yo daughter discovered the soon to be released movie but, read the book before it hit the theatres. I just finished reading as well! GREAT! Kidd is a fabulous author of fiction & now, non fiction. Her book The Desident Daughter (spelling ?) is a great read as well. We will get to the theatre soon, mainly to support african american film production. I hope that the book's forthright inclusion of feminine divine are not foresaken in order to not offend the masses... the her/story, spirituality during the diaspora, sisterhood, extended family, and intrinsic reflections of Mother & god... all correlating to nature's community of bees! Wow, what a wonderfull exploration & discovery. I especially appreciate the wisdom shared re the absence of one's bio mother does not overshadow one's Great Mother within herself & all around! Very healing! Kuddos to Gina (Writer, Director), Will & Jada (Producers), and the cast of phenomenal womyn & men for lending animation to a truly awesome book! A MUST read!
