I think we need the technology from Stargate, They had FTL ships and controlable worm holes, ring transporters, staff weapons, and zatnicotels. Lets make friends with the ascended or at least Thor, in the end he gave us the whole ball of wax, free of charge. If we are to survive the death of the sun we had better get off our collective asses and get out into other solar systems. In star Trek we saw several trips to the sun that were successfull, but the gravity kind of played hob with time. I think the sunshine cast would have been crushed before they fried!
