I love the Night Watch Series. It is honestly one of my favourite book series. I'm just waiting for The Final Watch to be released here. My country is kinda slow with them. And I just saw the Film The Night Watch a little while ago. In Russian and English. And although it chops up the story and adds little parts that are either from the 2nd novel or slightly made up it still links together and is absolutely amazing. I never really had a face for Anton (even if he is my favourite) but Konstantin Khabenskiy just immediatly filled up that blank face.
I'm actually really absolutely gutted that Fox Searchlight will film the Twilight Watch. In English. It just doesn't make any sense. There is just something that American directors, actors etc etc will not be able to achieve. It will turn into a horrible Blockbuster. And they have to be speaking Russian of course.
There is nothing wrong with filming in another language then English. Other languages have Dubs and subtitles for English films. We should be fine with that. The English Dub for The Night Watch was pretty good, I didn't mind it.
So to sum it up The novel series is amazing and I hope more of Lukyanenko's books will be translated, although the films now are just a gist of the book (still great) having an American studio make the film IN ENGLISH with English speaking actors etc etc is just going to take away any goodness and just leave it as some lame hollywood blockbuster.
Anyway Konstantin Khabenskiy is just wow! being Anton. And the Character for Alice to and Sveltana even Egor!
