I saw "Once" twice and I'm looking forward to the third viewing. This is an excellent example of how good low-budget, independent filmmaking can and should be. It's not over-reaching or trying too hard; simple, subtle, yet completely believable and effective. The combination of good writing, good music, and everyone involved working from a place that's true.
By the way, I'm still not comfortable with this being called a "musical," given the bad examples of movies that usually fall in that category. Why can't this be regarded as drama ... a drama about musicians who do what they do- write music, sing songs, rehearse and record.
