My father said he heard it once when he was younger and had always wanted to name his daughter Indu Bala. Growing up with the name like Indu, you can imagine the teasing I got. In high school I was embarrased by the name so much that I told everyone to call me Ashley--after my favorite soap opera character, much to my father's dismay. He really didn't like it, he said it wasn't me--unique. Luckily by the end of the school year I realized the same thing and went back to Indu. It's odd but now my name gives me strength and confidence. The name Indu means "moon" in Sanskrit and my middle name, Bala, means "girl". Indu Bala = Moon Girl. I love my name and I love that it came from my father.
