Visionary. Lover. Dreamer. Fighter. Legend. Icon. AMELIA.

An extraordinary life of adventure, celebrity and continuing mystery comes to light in AMELIA, a vast, thrilling account of legendary aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart. (two time Academy Award® winner Hilary Swank).

After becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, Amelia was thrust into a new role as America's sweetheart - the legendary "goddess of light," known for her bold, larger-than-life charisma. Yet, even with her global fame solidified, her belief in flirting with danger and standing up as her own, outspoken woman never changed. She was an inspiration to people everywhere, from First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (Cherry Jones) to the men closest to her heart: her husband, promoter and publishing magnate George P. Putnam (Golden Globe® winner Richard Gere), and her long time friend and lover, pilot Gene Vidal (Ewan McGregor). In the summer of 1937, Amelia set off on her most daunting mission yet: a solo flight around the world that she and George both anxiously foresaw as destined, whatever the outcome, to become one of the most talked-about journeys in history.

AMELIA is directed by Mira Nair (THE NAMESAKE, VANITY FAIR, MONSOON WEDDING) from a screenplay by Academy Award® winner Ron Bass (RAIN MAN) and Anna Hamilton Phelan. The film is produced by Ted Waitt, Kevin Hyman and Lydia Dean Pilcher with Ron Bass and Hilary Swank serving as executive producers and Don Carmody as co-producer.  AMELIA opens Friday, October 23, 2009.

Oh, and I guess you'll never watch any movie or tv show ever again that someone says God Damn in it? What a sad and lonely life you'll lead. I'm ready with my $12 to see Amelia because it looks like a good movie, that a lot of people put months of hard work into and because I love Ewan McGregor and see everything he's in. Have fun watching G- rated movies the rest of your life.

I will not support you or this movie and I hope that others will join me in not supporting this movie and any movie that blasphemes God's name. Hey folks, how about one of the greatest songs ever written about Amelia? You may not have heard of her, but the singer/songwriter is JONI MITCHELL! From her best album, no less- Hejira.

Anonymous | October 23rd, 2009 16:31

Yes, Joni Mitchell's song "Amelia" is truly amazing. Surprised it's not on the movie soundtrack.

Anonymous | November 12th, 2009 10:59

I'm not surprised....I'm stunned! How in the world could they not have included Joni's song? Talk about clueless...I would have gone to the movie just to hear it over the sound system.......this is such a huge blunder!

Many lesbians marry men because of social pressure, money, religious beliefs, etc. Being an out lesbian would not have been a viable choice for her as a public figure.

There are plenty of reasons to speculate about her lifestyle, but I haven't heard of any proof of what she did between the sheets.

I did see a film clip where she was leaving on one of her flights. Her husband leaned over to kiss her good-bye. She leaned away from him & shook his hand.

Anonymous | November 5th, 2009 00:09

That's NOT proof........Many Wives get upset with their husbands & then makeup later....Maybe she didn't kiss him because they just got into a fight & hadn't made up yet.....Hmmmm....I think that's a more viable answer...than jumping straight to lesbianism as a reason.....

Hello

Just a follow up to confirm receipt of the CD I sent 3/9/09 regarding the song I wrote about Amelia. I hope you had an opportunity to listen to it and may want to consider it for the movie. Again a new recording of it would be great as the melody and the words are fantastic.

Amelia Earhart was NOT a lesbian. She was enganed to a man once, broke up with him, married her pbulisher, and then had an affair with another man during that marriage. Is that enough proof?

Anonymous | September 19th, 2009 00:53

is it going to be on the movie cd?

Anonymous | September 11th, 2009 15:09

vintage rock

I am curious about one thing. Is the film going to acknowledge the fact that she was a lesbian. Send response to bud4jo@yahoo.com

I got the Hometown album that has the song Amelia by Frank D. Wright, on Amazon, but they are running low.

Anonymous | March 3rd, 2009 17:27

In 1977 a fantastic song was written about Amelia. It ended up on an album called "WKQX Hometown Album". The song is awesome and is dedicated to the life of Amelia and her incredible legacy. It should be included in this movie soundtrack. Please let me know whom I can contact asap.
