UNDER THE SAME MOON (LA MISMA LUNA) tells the parallel stories of nine-year-old Carlitos and his mother, Rosario. In the hopes of providing a better life for her son, Rosario works illegally in the U.S. while her mother cares for Carlitos back in Mexico. Unexpected circumstances drive both Rosario and Carlitos to embark on their own journeys in a desperate attempt to reunite. Along the way, mother and son face challenges and obstacles but never lose hope that they will one day be together again. Riggen's film is not only a heartwarming family story; she also offers subtle commentary on the much-debated issue of illegal immigration.

Saw it at Sundance! Loved it! Our group thought it was even better than Penelope Cruz/Volvere.

Does anyone know the singer or the song playing when Paco and Rosario (Kate) are dancing. Boy do I wish I could meet a guy like Paco, he is hot. What is "Paco's" real name. I am a very blonde mexican (full blood) nice to see all different colors of mexicans in real life situations. If you ever get to live in Jalisco you will see how truly diverse hispanics are. I want to buy the movie and the music. Will Wal-Mart have it?
no me deja me pongo a llorar me segurie.

Me encanta la pelicula La misma Luna. Quiero comprar la pelicula y la musica.

Anonymous | July 3rd, 2007 11:25

So what is going on in Mexico?

Anonymous | July 6th, 2007 11:23

Open your eyes, there are more stories like this in mexico. Take it from someone who has some experience in this. There are many people who do this searching for a better life and some even pay with their lives.

Excellent critics, MUST WATCH!

Anonymous | March 12th, 2008 22:42

Some one in The Valley(RGV) needs to speak up and request this movie, which by the way comes out March 19.

I saw the trailer and has it occurred to anyone that this film, although a heart-breaking tale, encourages disregard for the rule of law. I'm glad directors' will sell their heritage for a bowl of soup. I on the other hand will stand with Abraham Lincoln (Address to Young Men's Lyceum).

I saw this movie At My Local AMC free screening. It was a GREAT movie!!! I would so recommend it to all my friends & family.

Anonymous | June 26th, 2008 10:33

hi! the song is called "Desvelado" by Bobby Pulido. It does sound like desde lado though, thats what i thought he said at first. LOL! I'm not so good at spanish either but I can manage when I'm MX. I'd to know more about Jalisco if you'd like to share. My dads from San Luis Potosi.

This is a mustsee movie! It has a great story line that brings faces--people, and not just statistics, to the immigration issue. A great movie!

I have been talking about this movie since Sundance...my friends are tired of hearing me talk about it. I was soooooooo excited that it is finally being released.

I just saw the trailer. I can't wait to watch in in March.

Anonymous | September 3rd, 2007 01:20

Could this be any more timely? I wish people could see it sooner than March...hurry, Fox Searchlight!

Anonymous | September 3rd, 2007 13:36

I was looking forward to this movie being released at the end of this month,(September)but I guess I'll just have to wait six more months. Oh Well!!! Although it won't be released this month, I'll definitely be going to see it on opening weekend in March.

Anonymous | September 5th, 2007 19:43

WHAT!!!! NOW I HAVE TO WAIT TILL MARCH!!! JUST SAW THE TRAILER!!! GUESS I'LL GO TO TJ AND WATCH IT !!!!

Anonymous | September 10th, 2007 12:41

I saw this film at the Sundance Festival. The movie is good enough that it could win an Oscar. Fox should release the movie before the end of the year so that it can be eligible for a potential Oscar nomination. Like last year's "Little Miss Sunshine," I think this movie could garner a lot of recognition from critics. It will also stimulate a lot of public debate, given that the US-Mexico border and illegal immigration have been major news issues this year.

In my view, the story and acting are certainly Oscar quality. Since "La Misma luna" is so well-made, I was expecting the film to be released later this year for that reason. But March 2008? March is the month when dud movies come out - the ones that have no chance for Oscars nominations or to be summer blockbusters. Fox is missing out on the attention, revenue, and awards "La misma luna" deserves. And, at that point, US politics will be dominated by the presidential race, with canidates being discussed rather than legislation issues being given the attention they deserve.

My friend told me over the phone to look up this movie and the release date , I saw the trailer and I liked what I saw So now we both can't wait any longer for its release.

And she thought it was going to be released on this month .....NOP SOOOORYYYYYYY!!!!! IF YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE YOU WILL KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!! LOL.

Anonymous | September 16th, 2007 12:26

It is very disappointing that I won't be able to see this movie until March. It is the only movie I have actually been looking forward to seeing since watching the trailer. HURRY AND RELEASE IT! We are waiting for a great movie about an important issue.

Anonymous | April 8th, 2008 13:22

I loved this movie, Does anyone know if there is also a book?

Anonymous | September 27th, 2007 18:49

Could the postponement of the release date be the result of some kind of plot to silence the plight of the illegal Mexican immigrant?

Anonymous | October 2nd, 2007 22:06

It is really a shame that the powers that be are not finding it fit to release this film now. The trailer alone gives me goosebumps. Forget the issue of immigration. The actors of this film deserve to be considered for an Oscar. It's too bad no one at Fox studios has the foresight to see how much this film will be embraced by all audiences.

Anonymous | October 3rd, 2007 13:43

I cant wait till this movie comes out. I read that it's going to be released both in Mexico and here in the US at the same time. They might have it at the Latino Film Festival.

Anonymous | October 5th, 2007 22:17

damn fox search@#$%%^
whats wrong with your thinking process???
The movie should be realease the latest december 25. I don't get it?? why wait until march? I can understand a dumb movie like spiderman or superman to be realesed on May or June but for this movie to be realesed on March?? dont get it... why march?

Anonymous | October 7th, 2007 11:18

I will be seeing the movie tonight at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival. The festival will be opening with this movie. I got my tickets in advance, I do not want to miss this movie.

Anonymous | October 8th, 2007 14:34

Anonymous | October 8th, 2007 16:42

Anonymous | January 16th, 2008 23:08

Fantastic flick...

Saw it at Sundance and can't wait to see it again!

Anonymous | November 2nd, 2007 22:27

the film's protagonist is exactly the person we want in our country, and she's doing EXACTLY what our forefathers intended for us.

Anonymous | November 5th, 2007 19:26

I only saw the clips when I saw the movie Ladron que roba a ladron. I was really waiting to see Kate del Castillo perform both in this movie and TRADE. Both movies have a real life drama. TRADE wasn't very well advertised and it appears I missed it when it was released. I will definitely keep up with this one. Just seeing the previews made me cry (and I didn't cry when I saw the TITANTIC). Release it it soon March is too far away.

Anonymous | November 16th, 2007 18:59

i want to see but when ???????

Anonymous | November 25th, 2007 10:29

all the blockbuster hits release thanksgiving/christmas or the summer. they are actually being very smart by releasing in march where they wont have to compete with so many other movies and they will have undivided attention in terms of box office sales

Anonymous | March 25th, 2008 13:34

alguien sabe como sellama la cancion de bachata que sale de fondo cuando el nino esta junto al telefono por favor diganme

Anonymous | February 11th, 2008 21:25

I feel honored to draw the ire of two highly intelligent individuals that must resort to an ad hominem as opposed to forwarding a logical repudiation. Has it not occurred that children of illegal immigrants are raised on the premise that breaking the law is fine so long as it makes that person better off. As a nation we have no one particular ethnicity, race, religion, or even language that binds us together; however, we rely on a political creed embodied in founding documents that men have died to uphold, and these founding documents uphold the rule of law. I support immigration, so long as it is legal. Anything less than legal is a slippery slope to anarchy.

Anonymous | February 2nd, 2008 12:45

Did anyone notice how different the mood of the trailers were. The English version is very dramatic and over the top and the spanish version is lighthearted and even comical...marketing at it's best? What does it really say?

Anonymous | December 26th, 2007 09:48

Truly amazing movie!!

I saw this movie at Sundance and it is truly spectacular! I have been waiting for it to come out ever sense!

Anonymous | January 13th, 2008 22:41

BAD MOVIE......HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous | November 18th, 2007 14:11

Our forefathers did not intend for us to break the law. After the Boston Massacre, John Adams defended the British soldiers to assure a fair trial and uphold the rule of law despite how crooked he perceived British rule to be. I hold our forefathers in high regard, it seems you use them as a punchline. We want people in our country that do not only support the law when it is convenient.

Anonymous | November 14th, 2007 21:40

Can't wait for its release. There is so much talent in Mexico and am glad that it is finally starting to flourish. Haven't seen the movie, but the trailer I saw was great!!

Anonymous | January 26th, 2008 00:10

OMG this movie looks really good i want to see it when it comes out in march. me and my friend already mades plans to see it!!

Anonymous | January 26th, 2008 00:13

haha i agree with you that person is dumb for even making that comment. its not mexicans fault that they have to cross the border illegally. congress does not know how to handle their S#!t

Anonymous | February 6th, 2008 09:15

Yes it is a good movie. I have seen it and it's really good with a really strong cast.

Anonymous | February 11th, 2008 13:49

It says that cultures vary and you cant compare American culture to Mexican culture. A joke in spanish is hilarious, but if you try to explain it in english it doesnt make sense, and like wise.
