Wes,

I live in Birmingham, Alabama and was expecting Darjeeling Limited to open here, tonight, October 26. I was inevitably dissapointed to find out in my search for theatres showing it that it was indeed not Birmingham, Al. that was showing the film at all, but Birmingham, Michigan. Wes, why are you doing this? You are alienating the many loyal fans that you have, which, by the way, seem to be decreasing by the minute, myself included. I just can't seem to put my mind around your reasoning for this. Yes, pirating is wrong and rampant, but Wes, let's get real. The only people that care about your movies are the people that have seen them all. You are one of the few writer/directors along with a handful of others with a very real fan following. You have little to none casual fans because with your films you either get it or you don't. So, no one wants to buy your movie on bootleg or download on the internet. Prices don't so much bother me. If I knew i was going to get a quality film like yours I would gladly pay any somewhat reasonable amount by today's standards. "In other words, you fucked us!" (Steve Zissou). Wes, you make great films and for this reason I will still see Darjeeling Limited (one of these days), but now I say this: I am no longer a Wes Anderson fan, I am a fan of Wes Anderson's movies.
