I just came home from previewing Young @ Heart with the Sunday Key Club. The security required to preview this film was ridiculous! Each individual was wanded to get access to the theater after being asked about having a cell phone. I am personally offended that Fox Searchlight feels the need to veil its movies in secrecy and deliver them under "Lock and Key." Since we discuss the movies after the viewing it put our host and moderator at a disadvantage too. I have never heard of this before and understand that Fox is the only company who makes such a big deal of this. You single handedly predisposed me to hate this movie !! I wish you had personally been there to hear the boos as the opening FoxSearchlight Logo was shown. My understanding is that this film has been seen on television in England and was shown and won awards at a Film Festival in the US last year. You wasted all the good will you get from groups like our Key Club!
That being said, the movie was terrific! This documentary made me laugh and cry and did the same thing to the men on either side of me in the audience too. My husband is ready to move to North Hampton, MA... and I just wish there was a branch of Young @ Heart in Bar Harbor Maine where my 90 year old mother lives! I was inspired and thrilled to see all the aspects of this chorus!
