JOSHUA is the tale of Brad (Sam Rockwell) and Abby (Vera Farmiga) Cairn, perfect Manhattan parents in a perfect Manhattan apartment whose perfect life begins to crack after the birth of their second child Lily. Shortly after Lily arrives home, a dark side of prodigy son Joshua slowly begins to reveal itself.

The note that Joshua leaves for his father reads: "Dad,/Eaten lunch already/and gone to/The Brooklyn Museum of Art/having fun with Nunu and Lily." If you arrange the first letter of each line in order, it reveals an acrostic for "Death."Movie reviews thriller, 1408, Adam’s Best-of for 2006, Black Book, Because of Winn Dixie, There Will Be Blood, Cookies Fortune, Daddy and Them, Along Came Polly, Bruce Almighty, Catch and Release, in The Bedroom, The Filth and The Fury, The Sixth Day, Searching for Debra Winger

are u one of the murder as well ??
only a murder can understand other's thought & imagine & creation...
whooooaaaa..scary..

Well I was universally traumatized and sickened by Waitress. It was so simplistic and sllllooow that I think I fell into a stupor. Keri Russell acting was terrible. The director was extremely juvenile in her choices. Ratcliff, in comparison, shows promise as a first time director.

This is one of the absolute worst movies I’ve ever seen in my life. It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat alright- sitting there waiting for something exciting to happen (which never does)! Seriously, I cannot even to begin to explain how horrid this film is…… and those are precious minutes taken away from your life that you’ll never get back!

I had been waiting quite impatiently for the release of Joshua from the moment I saw the trailer. Unlike the people who walked out of the theater, I was not disappointed. But that doesn't mean you won't be. Joshua is clearly not a movie for the everyman and it never really tries to be.

It is a story about a boy who longs to be understood by parents who choose to watch from the sidelines. The previews made the boy seem like he was just a creepy weirdo, but it becomes obvious quite quickly why he is the way he is. Joshua tells his father that he does not like soccer and baseball. In an attempt to seem open-minded and understanding, his father tells him that it's okay and that he should just do what he wants (without ever asking exactly what it is that his son wants). His mother just doesn't care as long as she's not bothered.

Dark, disturbing, creepy, but occasionally sadistically humorous, events unfold slowly (much to the dismay of people expecting shock after gratuitous shock) proving Joshua to be a far more calm and calculating boy than originally perceived. Jacob Kogan's performance is reminiscent of Haley Joel Osment in A.I. (if that character were a sadistic schemer). He is the only character who stands out and I believe this was intentional; the other characters can tell, right along with the audience, that the boy ain't quite right.

This movie is certainly not for the impatient and/or those who need to be smacked in the face repeatedly to stay awake during movies. But if you want a movie that slowly and coolly toys with your mind until the very end, Joshua will likely deliver what you are looking for.

Where can this movie be seen? I haven't even seen a commercial for it yet? Is there really a movie "Joshua"?

Was so glad to finally be able to see this movie on 8/3.
Loved it. It's disturbing, yes, but well done. Granted, maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it was awesome. I'd see it again. Probably will too.

When will the movie be released nationwide?

I think this movie is spot on while it preys on the feelings that many oldest siblings have when someone new is introduced into the family. I never wanted to hurt my little brother, but I certainly attempted to hurt myself in order to get attention from my parents. Fortunately I didn't break anything when I fell down the stairs in my house on purpose.

Sounds exciting can't wait

I echo the remarks about the inappropriate nature of attaching the grisly, disturbing trailer for "Joshua" onto "Waitress", a film that drew a crowd definitely NOT into such movies. The audience of the screening I attended was universally traumatized and sickened.

Please use greater thought and care in the future.

Many of us today went to see WAITRESS and were horrified by the trailer advertising "Joshua" depicting a young child killing pet animals as well as a baby in a baby carriage being deliberately catapulted down a fight of stairs by a youngster.

It ruined our movie experience.

What month will this movie be released in 2007 and where can I see a trailer?

JOSHUA will be released in select theaters on July 6th. The trailer's playing across the country now, and you can also view it on the JOSHUA film page here:

When will this movie be released? What is the movie theme song and by whom?

Dave Matthews performs the theme song for JOSHUA!
